My top 10 Favorite cartoons of all time.

This really dose not need much of a set up.
This is simply the ten cartoons that I would willingly watch over and over again, maybe not even the ones that I think are the "best" and it will become clear as I go into each one what I'm looking for in a cartoon.

Score.
2 Nickelodeon.
3 Disney.
3 WB.
1 Cartoon Network.
3 Tera Strong.
2 Grey DeLisle.
1 Mark Hamill.

#10: The Fairly OddParents. (Nickelodeon) (Created by Butch Heartman)
This will be the first only enter for Mr. Butch Heartman on this list, but make no mistake this guy is good. Having worked on Tom and Jerrry, Dexter's lab, Johnny Bravo, the Powerpuff girls and T.U.F.F.Puppy, As well as a few cartoons that I never really cared for but I will admit are at least alright.
It will however be the first entries for both Tera strong and Grey DeLisle, who will show up on this list a few more times before its over.

Simple put this is one of those shows that is fun for kids, and has allot of jokes ment for adults as well, and the addition of REALLY good voice acting across the board is always welcome. Neat little things like Adam West playing a deranged former TV super hero, and just allot of very watchable stuff for both kids and adults.

#9: Phineas and Ferb. (Disney Channel) (Created Dan Povenmire and Jeff "Swampy" Marsh)
So if you have not seen this show... You don't have kids. Or teens or any Disney Philes. Simply put this show is one that I am never upset to see on TV, I don't go out of my way to watch it, but the formula it works off of is so enjoyable that its predictability is part of the draw. And I think almost all of the humor in this show operates off the ideal of making light of yourself. Because you know... your a cartoon.

If you want to get me hooked on a cartoons there are two ways to do it, A: Make fun of yourself and genera. B: Treat your viewing audience with respect. And this show manages to do both nicely.

#8: Steven Spielberg Presents Animaniacs. (Tom Ruegger)
This show really is in the same area as both Fairly OddParents and Phineas and Ferb, It's witty it has allot of stuff of older watches, and it makes fun or itself allot. And Everything else. If there is any really confusing problem with this show its this, It seams like allot of the humor was aimed at people who wear in the know about the animation and show business community.

But Again there is not humor like self deprivating humor, and this is a very catchy show, I don't really know any one who was the right age to watch this show that did not at least like it, and many adults can still sing the theme song and know most of the jokes. I'm really surprised that I have not seen this being re-aired more on TV.

#7:Gargoyles. (Walt Disney Television Animation. - Disney Channel before there was one) (Created Greg Weisman) (Keith David, Marina Sirties, Jonathan Frakes, Brint Spinner.)
This is most likely the first entry that some of you have not seen, and it is the first one that's well... Not very cartoon...ish. This show didn't have a whole lot of humor. So what Did it have? I could make a list out of that itself. And I will.

A: Amazing Music. I always love a good musical score in a show, and it is one thing that allot of the shows already mentions have, but I mean background music in this case, good instrumental pieces
B: Story, This show was one long continuous story, one of the first cartoons to really try this.
C: Seriousness. No really the story in this thing was Serious, people died, hearts wear broken.
D: Social Issues, I don't mean that in the sense that they beat you over the head with it, It's pretty much in the same area as X-men its talking about social issues that we all face, its just hiding them very nicely.
C: VOICE ACTING! As you can see on the list up there, This show has KEITH MOTHERFUCKING DAVID as the main voice actor! If you don't know who this guy it, you still most likely know this voice. And the Addition of Marina Sirties, Jonathan Frankes and Brint Spinner.

For people who are not huge geeks that three people form Star Trek The Next Generation, And it's not like these people are just there every now and then, they are full time voice actors, all three of them playing pretty important roles. So is this show perfect? No no no... Simple put if I have to fault it for anything, It most likely takes itself a little (Way) To serious at times. And It's VERY dramatic. Its on the list for the same reason as one of my higher numbered picks, and its this reason that it's not higher up.

#6: Kim Possible. (Walt Disney Television Animation) (Created by Bob Schooley and Mark McCorkle) (John DiMaggio, Nicole Sullivan, Patrick Warburton)
Remember what I said about Making fun of yourself in a show? Ya that's the entire point of this show, The ideal behind the show is quite frankly so stupid that If I was to explain it to some one they would most likly smack me. But A few points can be made.
A: This show is VERY Aware of how stupid the ideal is, and its pretty much built on the ed-construction of the 'super-hero' 'spy' and 'high school drama' genra.=
 ge
B: Music. Simply put the theme is... Silly. But EXTREMELY catchy.
C: Voice Acting. Really there are allot of very good voice actors in this show, but really the three that I am referring to are John DiMaggio. (Bender from Futurama) Patrick Warburton. (From to much stuff to count) And NICOLE SULLIVAN! (Yes the women from mad TV) Which Brings us to the next point.
D: Characters. The characters in the show are just enjoyable, a little silly and very aware of the genre that they are in. And Nicole Sullivan is the queen of this, her character Shego is always a joy to watch, simply because she is a one character deconstruction of the super Villian / underling model. And super Villains Trusted Lieutenant, Who clearly could be in charge if she wanted to, is really smarter then her boss and simply has everything in advantage on her boss, and only puts up with him because she enjoys mocking him when he fails. (And he pays well)

In short, Its a very Fun show. Not serious at all, and it just puts me in a good mood when I watch it.

#5 & 4 Tie: Teen Titans. (Cartoon Network in Partnership with WB) (Created by Glen Murakami) (Greg Cipes, Tara Strong)
Right so first off just let me say that I am a huge comic book geek, and that I am a fan of the Titans Comic, And that this show is a VERY good adaptation, using just enough creative license, the right amount of humor and action, seriousness and light fun. The voice acting. (Tara Strong) is really great and has allot of people in it that you will be able to pick out by voice. (Ron Perlman) The music was... Alright BUT THE OPENING THEME is infectious, its short extremely catchy and really kind of goofy.

Where the show shines in in the few story episode it has each season and in character, simply put every one can find a character they really like, and allot of people at least like most of the main cast if not all of them. And like Kim Possible the style is a kind of fussion of anime and more traditional western cartoons, So if your a fan of anime and a comic book geek, take a look at this.

#5 & 4 Tie: My Little Pony, Friendship is magic. (The Hub = Hasbro) (Created By Lauren Faust) (Tera Strong, Tabitha St.Germain, Grey DeLisle)
OK SO.. This is in fact a show for little girls. And I totally acknowledge that. I could go into how this show has a number of factors that make it much more enjoyable then bla bla bla. It's a show for little girls. The reasons I like the show are simple.

It makes me happy... No really that's it. I am in fact a VERY cranky person, and pretty unhappy most of the time, BUT! I can sit down at watch ponies. And it makes me happy. Simply put I can't be cranky after watching this show.

And to be fair it is very clever, And that's mainly for three reasons.
A: Voice acting. You will notice Tara Strong again! Also John de Lancie! (Q from Star Trek)
B: Humor, This show is again very aware of what it is and it has fun with that.
C: Characters, They are simply enjoyable and most people who people that they will be reminded of wile watching this show.
D: Writing, The show was made by Lauren Faust, who has done work on allot of stuff that people have watched and liked, Powerpuff girls, and Fausters comes to mind. And the episodes are really well put together, it will at the very least be standable for most parents to watch with there.... daughters.

Its also worth pointing out that the writing staff on the show is comprised of people who have worked on pretty much every good cartoon made in the last 20 years.

The reason this show is not actually a little higher, or at least beating Teen Titans is simple.
It's not done yet, it just finished its second seasons, and the third season is being done right now, and simply put I don't know if the show will nose dive into the ground to get better, ether is pretty easy to see.
And the show has its down sides, simply put some of the episodes are just not that great, that being said, its not like half of them are like this, its more like a few episodes per season. It should also be noted that this is the only FLASH animation show on the list. Something that normally = low production value and looking crappy.

#3: INVAIDER ZIM! (Nickelodean) (Created by Jhonen Vasquez)
I honestly don't even know wear to start with this show other then to say it is 100% Brilliant, It's so Brilliant and creative, that its creativity is pretty much what killed it. It was a show that only had two (Very short) Seasons. The show was hilarious, and character every one loved and was actually very well rated.

So then what was the problem?

It was... Bizzar. And in many ways, clearly not made for younger children, its deranged sense of humor was also kind of hit or miss, ether your gonna love it and bust a gut giggling, or your going to think the people who watch this show are deranged serial killers. (People who murder lucky charms)

I would go on about this show, but really there is no way for me to sell this show, just go watch it and you will ether love it or be terrified by it. Also the Character Gir could be the most amazing thing to ever come out of TV... Ever.

#1 & 2: Tie: Batman the Animated Series. (Created by Bob Kane and Bill Figner) (Kevin Conroy, Mark Hamill) (Music by Danny Elfman) (Warner Bros)
This show is on the  list for so many reasons that I cant even start to explain them without tripping over myself. So I will just say this. This is most likely the greatest depiction of batman ever, And its not just me, the creators of the batman comic have pretty much stated the same thing as well.

And the show is hear because it treated its viewing audience like they are intelligent and smart enough to handle very serious and adult subject matter. This is the only show on the list I can think of that uses guns... No guns that fire "Lasers" or beams, Real guns, that really kill people. (Off screen) But you know that they die. This show kills people.

This show deals with deep emotional and mental issues, it asks serious philosophical and social issues in a way that kids will get, simply put, this show does not pull punches. And it looks and sounds amazing. (Danny elfman) The voice acting it literally second to none. And Kevin Conroy is a perfect batman, And MARK HAMILL as the Joker is amazing!

I do need to make a note about the shows that came after this "The new batman Adventures" This show is... Well very good, but not as good as before. I say before because this is just the last few seasons after this shows, and really its just a matter of shifting to a animation style that was much cheaper to produce, and that's fine, but I really missed the art deco of the first two seasons.

#1 and #2 tie: Avatar: The last air bender. (Nickelodeon) (Created by Micheal Dante Dimartino and Bryan Konietzko) (Grey DeLisle, Mark Hamill)

This show is on this list because it dose everything that I love and does it well, it treats me like a adult and has a sense of humor, and ontop of it its one of the most original shows I have seen in a long time, and has allot of very nice elements. (That it borrowed from other things) But It is still very unique for a TV show.

No explanation needed, just watch it.

Honorable Mentions.

Honorable Mentions.
Simply put these are a collection of shows that would have made it onto my top 10 list, if it wasn't for the sheer number of shows that I had on my list. Allot of these are better then the ones on my list, but I simply like those better.

So Again there are gonna be groups of these shows.

Group A: Good But I like something else better.
This goes with what I said above, Just not enough room on my list.

Group B: Possible better then stuff on my list, but Just not my thing.

Group C: Not enough information. Simple put some shows I didn't see enough of to really get into them.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. (Group A)
Part of the problem with this show is most likely that I was a LITTLE to old when it came out.
And wile the production value of this show was actually not that great, it was not bad for the time period. It was engaging and entertaining. So it's not that it's bad, It's just that it's not quite as good as most people remember. But it get's heavy points for nostalgia.

Cartoon Cartoons. (Group A and B)
I adore Billy and Mandie.
Dester's Lab, Johnny Bravo, Edd Ed and Eddie wear all shows I loved.
Powerpuff girls, Cow and Chicken, I am Wiesel wear shows I just didn't get.
Now again I was a little old for these shows when they came out. But I always liked cartoons more then other kinds of shows.

Steven Spielberg Present's. (Group A)
Tiny Toons, Freakazoid, Pinky and the brain.
This is another group of shows that I really did like, just not enough to get on the list, and they wear a little out of my time. But over all very good and worth watching, It surprises me they don't get more replay.

Disney Cartoons. (Group A and B)
Darkwing Duck, Ducktales, Gooftroop, Talespin, Chip'n'Dales Rescure Rangers.
There might be one of two I missed, These shows were fun to watch, and wear VERY high quality. Even by today's standards, And duck tales was responsible for the increase in quality of cartoons across the board. (More on that latter)

Legend of Korra. (Type C)
This one literally just came out, so this is a matter of not seeing enough of it, but it has what I would consider the best pilot episodes. (The first two and only ones I have seen) That I think I have ever seen, If it has any real fault its that it is very dependent on seeing Avatar the Last Air bender.

Futurama. (Type A)
I really enjoy this show but its really just a matter of it not quite making it onto my list.
It's really because its not powerful in any real way. I like it, just not as much as other shows.
It's witty just not as much as other shows. And so on. Really good just not a personal favorite.

Star Wars: The clone wars. (Type A)
This show does not make it for two reasons. It almost dosen't feel like a cartoons.
And Well.. It's CGI. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with CGI as a whole.
But let's just say I have a very rocky Oppenheimer of CGI as a whole. (Might Get to that latter)

X-men. (Type A)
Spiderman. (Type A)
Really both of these shows fall into the same group.
I like them, and they had very good story line.
But really... It was a matter of, I didn't want to watch a super powered soup opera.
(Same Reason I never really got into Hero's)

Spongebob. (Type B)
OK before I start I want to just go ahead and get my trolling out of the way.
#1: If you don't like this show because "It's stupid" That's fine.
#2: If you don't like this show because "It's Stupid" And you are a fan of Ren and Stimpy. Your a
Retard. And a petty one at that, This show is simply put the TV reincarnation of Ren and Stimpy. The stupid humor, the weird and often grotesque art style. The only real diffrents is that Spongebob is actually more kid friendly. And the voice acting is better. Always interesting but I would never go out of my way to watch it.

Space ghost coast to coast. (Type B)
I actually caught this show allot, because I can't sleep normal hours it would seam. And you know what It was always at least amusing, I don't think I ever really laughed at it, but it was always fun to watch.

Justice Leauge. (Type B)
This show gets a mention because it is most likely the best rendition of the DC universe... And I'm counting the actual DC universe in that statement. But the problem was, well I'm just not a huge DC fan. There are in fact really only two exceptions to that. And they are in the list of top 10's. Also if you get a chance to watch it. Young Justice is pretty good as well.

Dishonorable Mentions.

So before I start my list of Dishonorable Mentions, I want to take a little time to make sure every one knows what I am on about. First off some of the shows are or wear very good.
So some of the reasons that things end up on this list are as follows.

Also on a note I will most likely not use the proper name of any long named show in this. (I.E. He-man not He-man and the masters of.... O look I seamed to have stopped caring)

A:They Suck. Plain and simple they are just terrible shows, and to even get on this list, some one some wear must have at least watched the shows, so it stands to reason that some one liked them, and I will upset some one with this list, to which I answer. "Harden the hell up."

B:Good But over rated and or I did not get them.
These are shows that I will openly give had something going for them. Where they good? Most likely not, but they wear not bad, some of them I will actually tell you where very good, but simply wear not for me, and some are just overrated for one reason or the other.

C:Jumped the Shark.
Plain and simple these are shows and simply should have quite at some point.
In new seasons they will have a few good episodes each season, but nothing like the original runs.

D:Hit and Miss.

E: Doug.

GI Joe. (Type A)
Lets not mince words here. This show SUCKS.
Simple put there is NOTHING good about this show and it has all of the major flavor groups of sucking. Low production value, Bad voice acting, boring, lame, no real story to be seen.
And the worst part is that it was popular. I'm not entirely sure how or why. As a kind I always thought over and over again, "OMG this sucks, why would any one watch this. I'm going to go watch something get eaten on the discovery channel." Also this show manages to be mildly racist on top of it. (That is to say racist without being meaning to do harm, and I'm normally not a big fan of bitching about that. This and a few other shows on the list are good examples of why you don't let toy sells control your show.

He Man. (Type A)
See above. Pretty much every thing that could be said about with the exception of the mild racism, But with a great deal more.... Well gayness. (Not that there is anything wrong with that) But again as a kid I was like. "This sucks, and that guy in the pink shirt is kind of gay... I'ma go watch something get blown up on the Discovery Channel."

Jem/Carebares/My Little Pony/Rainbow Bright/She-ra. (Type A)
Really these shows are the little girl targeted versions of the above, Shows meant to sell toys. And they have basically every problem the above do. Jem and GI Joe being the worst offenders because they wear stupid and often... well just bad for kids. No really.. Watch Jem again it's mind poison for little girls.

The Transformers. (Type B)
Ya ya, I know "how can you dislike Transformers!" And the simple answer is... I don't I don't feel one way or the other about Transformers, I always thought it was boring, It had some very good things going for it, and it also had some terrible things going for it, It's basically on the list for the sheer overrated factor. So in short, GOOD, but not THAT GOOD.

Thundercats. (Type B)
Three things to be noted.
1: This is in fact a American Cartoon. Allot of people think its Japanese.
2: This show was... Alright It had allot going for it, but basically had allot of stuff weighing it down as well.
3: This show got a huge popularity boost because of Cheetara... Just saying.
It had a alright story line when they stuck to it, It had a Pretty bad ass bad guy. (Always a plus with me) And it had Cheetara. (Always a plus with me) But It also had a over abundance of the required 1980's annoying sidekick/cute pet. And the Main character had He-man (Or rather Prince atom) levels of annoying twit going on for him. On a note the remake is nothing but a Improvement over the classic.

Beavis and butt-head. (Type B)
OK so right out front, I watched this show, And I liked it... but it was a guilty plesure and is just bad, it is however one of those things that gets into the. 'So bad its good' area, and 'made to be bad levels.'

The Ren and stimpy show. (Type B)

Same as above... Only... This one was much more a 'So stupid is Zen' thing going on for it.
Brilliant but at the same time to far out there to really be anything other then blatant idiot indulgence. (And now to make every one mad) This show dose in fact have a modern equivalent.
So much so that I'm going to include in here and not on its own installment. Spongebob. Yay I said it, Spoungebob is the modern reincarnation of the Ren and Stimpy show. Right down to the random Diseased images.

Daria. (Type B)

This show is on here because Wile Brilliant. (And I mean that in a much purer way the on the ohter Type B's) This show is... Just boring. I would still watch it, but I would never seek it out.

South park. (Type C)
The next few are going to get allot of flak. But Simple put south park should have stopped at some point, or at the very least started making much smaller seasons, you can now tell when they are just putting a episode out to be putting on out.

Family guy. (Type C)
Same as above only a little less, I find newer episodes of Family guy nearly as good as old ones, they just seam to be... more preachy and up there own ass now then they once wear.

The Simpsons. (Type C)

~Sigh~ This one really hurts me, Really as some point this show went from constant gold to... three or four good episodes a season, and then a bunch of crap ones.

King of the hill. (Type D)
Really Type D's are just Type C that never had a golden time. They are just hit and miss. One episode might be brilliant then the next is just stupid.
Kind of the hill never set well with me because it was always boring and relied on way to much stupid 'redneck' humor for me, That is to say making fun of rednecks. (And trust me I make enough fun of people from Texas as it is) And the sad part, The main character in this, is easily the most likeable one out of Type C-D. The real question is... Why the hell dose Hank hang out with these people?

American Dad. (Type D)
This one is more hit and miss by the moment, 90% of the episode is stupid and boring and the 10% is really funny. But over all its just to inconsistent for me.

Doug. (Type E)
Ahh Doug....
This is a show that really confounds me.
See the thing is, this show is almost a work of art, and I have watched the entire thing. (Because I have a friend that loves it) And I can totally see why. The Problem is simple that this is THE MOST BORING THING EVERY MADE! It's like watching lions eat a already dead Zebra, Amazing and terrible all at the same time.

Simply put I think you ever get Doug or you don't and if you do it transcends the boringness and becomes interesting.

My list of 10's.

I started to come up with the Ideal of a top ten list for my favorite cartoons.
And in doing so I discovered that I came up with lists of lists.

Simple put its a complicated matter.
So In the next few weeks I'm going to be doing a few lists.
And each one will most likely Be VERY long. Because I'm not just going to list them off I'm going to explain why.

So My First List is going to be.

My list of lists!

#1:My top 10 Favorite Cartoons.
#2:My top 10 Favorite Animes.
#3:My top 10 Favorite Animated Movies.
#4:My top 10 Honorable Mentions.
#5:My top 10 Dishonorable Mentions.

OK so a quick explanation of each.

Quick Note:
This is my list, shows I enjoy and think are very good, some of them are not as good as other shows and I know that, its just a matter of taste.

Number 1 & 2 are pretty simple.
And it's important to note that I take the "Made in Japan" approach to anime only on this list.
Simple because its a little unfair to MOST western shows to compare them to anime. (If only becuase of the normal target aduainces of anime/western animation)

Number 3. Kind of the same ideal, movies and TV shows really are not the same, so I split it off of the main lists.

Number 4.
Simple put a collection of shows that are ether VERY good, but I just don't get.
Or shows that are good, just not good enough to make it on the list.

Number 5.
This is a collection of shows that simple put I can't stand.
But it's important to note that COMPLETE tripe wont even make this list.
So this is really more of a collection of shows that were in fact successful but I just never got and really thought little of people who liked them as well.
